Get baking with the kids & Rowse honey !

A couple of weeks ago, we reviewed a whole range of honeys from Rowse (a review you can see here). Well, the girls have been quite happy munching it in sandwiches, on toast and with porridge but I also wanted to try out some of the delicious-sounding recipes on the Rowse website.

Now, I don't know if this is a quality or a fault, but I am incapable of following a recipe to the letter ! It always gets modified, depending on what's n the cupboard and what I think would make a nice added ingredient. So although these culinary delights are based on the Rowse website recipes, they're our very own versions adapted to our tastes !

First up : Sticky Coconut & Honey Cake

based on the recipe : Honey, Orange & Coconut Cake that you can see on the Rowse website

We totally cheated and mixed up a packet of shop-bought sponge cake mix with 125g dessicated coconut and 125g honey. We used the squeezy Light & Mild because it was easiest for the girls to squeeze into the mixing bowl !

I originally planned on icing it or slicing it in two and adding a filling but it was delicious enough as it was. The proof : we only made it yesterday and it's all gone already !

Next up : Coconut, Raisin & Honey Flapjacks, based on the recipe Honey & Almond Flapjacks on the Rowse website.

So simple but utterly delicious and totally blew away the girls who couldn't get their head around us making "cereal bars", which they obviously only think of as shop-bought lunchbox fillers !

These went down well with the whole family, even 16-month-old Pierre !

There are so many other recipes on the Rowse honey website that need trying out too ! I never knew honey could be such a versatile ingredient !
